You Need a Good Plan to Achieve New Year Fitness Goals

Sunday, January 11, 2015

As December comes to end, we cannot wait to start over and set new fitness goals with renewed enthusiasm. We promise ourselves to have a distance from fast foods to drop few pounds. We are very energetic as we set out to tackle new goals and follow through on old ones that have been fallen to the wayside. So, if we are all vigor and decked out, why do most of us drop the ball and fail to follow through?
A recent study from University of Scranton, about 45% Americans make a New Year's resolution. The main goal is to lose weight. And it is not surprised to know that third quarter of people stick to their goals for first week and more than half drop off at the six months mark
Do not let your enthusiasm be the only thing that carries you to achieve your goals. You need a good plan to achieve New Year fitness goals
Set Achievable Goals
One of the biggest mistakes we make is to run before you can walk. Progress is not defined by leaps and bounds, instead it is to start from small, yet impactful baby steps and move on. One of the easiest ways is to break down bigger goals into smaller and more manageable mini goals. Now you can celebrate each mini goal and keep your enthusiasm high, frustration waiting to achieve one big goal. The simpler your goal is, the less motivation it requires to achieve it.
Commit yourself for results
You cannot go any further in the process of achieving your New Year Fitness Goal without nailing this one down; still so many people overlook this step and head straight for planning. Beware of the step between visualizing your goals and putting them into action can be daunting.
If you have never worked out in your life, doing cardio, weight lifting, and cleaning up your nutrition plan will be a huge task for you, and once it hits you, you are most likely to quit doing it before you even start, unless you are really committed. It is a main step in achieving proper mindset; the point in the process after which everything that follows becomes about working toward getting results.
Push through rough beginning
The hardest part of anything is getting started. The majority of a rocket's fuel is consumed during its initial launch as it tries to break out of earth atmosphere. Our life is the same, take an example of an Olympic bobsled team. The difference between 1st and 10th is sometimes just fractions of a second. It is the initial push out of the starting gate makes all the difference. Everything that we have talked about up to this point is all to get that initial push to get mass in the motion.
Establish new habits
If you have got this far then you have already done the hardest part. You are now ready to learn a simple truth for lasting success and that is making a good habit. If you are doing something consistently for long time then you have made a routine. It is not different from brushing your teeth daily or combing your hair before work. The sooner you integrate the habit of exercise and healthy eating into your daily life, the sooner it will cease to feel like an inconvenience.
